Nissan Tanks Can’t Hold Their Fuel
According to Nissan North America, Inc. officials, several of its 2013 Model Year Nissan Sentra cars were assembled with defective fuel tanks. Nissan’s position is that these are the only cars that are affected by the defect.
This defect is very serious. Defective seams on the fuel tank allow fuel to leak from the tank when it is filled. Nissan North America, Inc.’s notice to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does not state it, but it is reasonable to conclude that a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.
If you own one of these defective cars, then you should immediately contact Nissan North America, Inc. at 1 (800) 647-7261. You may also contact NHTSA Hotline at 1 (888) 327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
